The Woman Behind the Lens

From the most humble beginning of early technology and the disposable camera, I fell in love with being able to capture the imaginative world of my childhood. In college, I rekindled that early love and knew that I wanted to turn it into a passionate business. So, here I am, working to make that little girl of my youth proud.

In January of 2019, I married my wonderful husband and with a name change, I knew that I wanted to rebrand my business into something other than Elizabeth Fortenberry Photography. (It’s a bit of a mouthful, am I right?) So, why a ladybug? Three simple reasons: Myrtle, a cute nickname, and my love of working with families. Myrtle the ladybug was the mascot of my college sorority, GATA, where I found a beautiful sisterhood and lifelong friends, “Ladybug” is my husband’s nickname for me, and capturing families, especially with young kids, brings me so much joy. Suffice it to say, I wanted a name that represented a part of who I am and that is how “Ladybug Photography” was born.

My go-to Dunkin’ order is an iced French Vanilla latte. I love sushi, Tex-Mex, and wine. My favorite shows to watch, especially in the background while I edit, are Gilmore Girls, Friends, and Law & Order: SVU.

Last year, in 2024, my husband and I welcomed our son, Jack, and he is now our pride and joy. It has taken some time to balance the job of business-owner and mother, but I wouldn’t change it for the world! I’m so thankful for my clients who stuck with me through maternity leave and I’m grateful to own a small business that allows me to stay at home with my son.

When I’m not behind the lens, or editing, you can find me spending time with my family, reading a book, or seeing a show in the Arts District with my husband.
